ABOUT Thank you for your interest in Avenue 42 Designs. We are a boutique design firm based in Richmond, Virginia. My name is Natalie Gordon and I launched Avenue 42 in the fall of 2009. I never thought I would start this business. One evening, while attending class, I stumbled across a google listing for a makeup school in Richmond. There was only one seat left in the class. I sent the owner an email and within 24 hours I was officially in and was told I woud be starting in one week. After the first class, I knew I had found my career; I went on to complete the Makeup "Masters" series, which included over 130 hours of professional, hands-on training (all while I was still attending the University of Richmond). At Makeup Artist Studio, Inc., I studied under Michelle Torres, a well-known and highly respected makeup artist. With fifteen years of experience in the industry, her work has graced the pages of Virginia Living and Richmond Bride. John Dewey once said "Every great advance has issued from a new audacity of imagination." Today, I know this to be true. Makeup artistry has taken me to places I never could have imagined. I have worked alongside some of the most talented individuals I have ever known on the sets of films and commercials. I have been humbled by the genius of art directors and photographers. I cherish the moments I have spent with beautiful brides and have been welcomed into their families. I am inspired on a daily basis to reach higher levels, both personally and professionally.
