First of all, thank you for your interest in Avenue 42 Designs. We are a boutique design firm based in Richmond, Virginia.
My name is Natalie Gordon and I launched Avenue 42 in the fall of 2009. I never thought I would start this business. While enrolled in my senior year at the University of Richmond, I decided to take a makeup class for fun. After the first class, I knew I had found my career; I went on to complete the makeup "masters" series, which included over 130 hours of professional, hands-on training. What do you get when you combine 130 hours of training in makeup, a bachelors degree in liberal arts, and two minors in law and business? Entrepreneurship!
I have always loved fashion design and makeup. For as long as I can remember, I have been arranging fabrics, textures, and colors. Walking outside, I would notice the most exotic shade of green in a plant, and from this inspiration, I could design a gown or a collection in my mind; my art is uncovering the beauty of the unseen.
